For over a decade, CheckWatt has combined various energy sources, such as customers’ batteries, electric vehicle chargers and renewable energy into a virtual power plant, enabling grid balancing and the ability to supply electricity during peak demand. This improves grid stability, enables increased use of variable renewable energy and reduces the need for expensive and slow grid expansions. CheckWatt serves around 15,000 households and businesses in the Nordic countries and is actively expanding its operations to the rest of Europe.

“We are still only at the beginning of where renewable energy generation, transport and industry electrification, along with battery storage, will take us. CheckWatt will have to continue to reinvent and innovate in order to push ahead, and now, together with Emaldo, we have secured the resources to do so”

– Dan-Eric Archer, CEO of CheckWatt AB.

The acquisition is subject to approval by the Swedish Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Authority, which may extend the implementation period by up to six months. Throughout this process, Emaldo and CheckWatt will operate within the existing partnership framework, ensuring uninterrupted customer service and the continued delivery of high-quality, innovative solutions. Each company remains fully dedicated to serving its respective partners, customers and stakeholders, ensuring that all cooperation and services continue uninterrupted and as normal. Both companies remain committed to partnering with a number of battery manufacturers, energy suppliers and installation partners.

The integration of Emaldo and CheckWatt offers immediate and significant benefits for customers and partners, including:

  • Accelerates the availability of grid balancing across Europe, accelerates the green transition and creates passive income for customers.
  • Enables the development of new services that support the electricity system and create customer benefits.
  • Expands the availability of our connected, innovative green energy management solutions.
