Why does the transmission grid company pay you for using energy storage?
Transmission system operators spend significant amounts of money balancing the electricity grid. Emaldo's battery system discharges and recharges electricity into the grid as needed, helping to maintain the grid's target frequency of 50 Hz. The transmission system operators pay you compensation for this service. Emaldo® has tested the system with Fingrid and signed an agreement in which the reserve market services provided by the Emaldo® system were introduced in Finland as of October 1, 2024.
