Solar panels for the wall
Wall-mounted solar panels produce about 75% of what roof-mounted solar panels produce at the same optimal angle to the wind. However, their yield starts in early spring and continues steadily until late autumn. They also produce in winter because the panels are not covered in snow.
Why install solar panels on the wall?
There can be several different reasons for installing solar panels on a wall. For example:
- The roof area is not enough for the large system you need
- The roof is not well suited for installing solar power in terms of wind direction, structure, or shading
- There is a lot of free, continuous wall space
- We want to balance the system's output more for winter, spring and autumn.
The mounting method depends on the wall material.
There are several different mounting methods for installing solar panels on the wall:
- Felt ceiling mounting is suitable for some wall materials
- For larger and higher profile projects, we use the Finnish Rauli Wall mounting system.
- Some wall materials or construction methods require special fastening
Coloured solar panels for extra showiness
The colored solar panels in our range create interesting architectural possibilities. For example, terracotta panels blend beautifully with a red brick wall.
Photovoltaic glass facades for high-profile projects
Solar panels can also be integrated into a glass facade. These are particularly suitable for high-profile projects where there is a willingness to invest in the facade. The price level for integrated glass facades is approximately 30% higher than for a conventional glass facade. Therefore, the payback period for the additional investment is short.
There are stunning print patterns, colored glass or stylish black available. Transparent glass options are also suitable for curtain walls, for example.
We implement integrated facades with our partner specializing in facades.
